The Complete Bra Fitting Guide
A well-fitting bra should feel comfortable from the moment you put it on. Studies show that up to 80% of women wear the wrong bra size. Use this guide to check if your current bra fits properly.
Signs of a Good Fit
- The band sits level around your body and doesn’t ride up in the back
- The center gore (front piece between cups) lies flat against your sternum
- Cups fully contain your breast tissue with no spillage or gaping
- Straps stay in place without sliding or digging
- The underwire sits on your ribcage, not on breast tissue
Common Fit Problems & Solutions
Problem: Band Rides Up in Back
Cause: Band is too loose. Solution: Try a smaller band size. Remember, a new bra should fasten comfortably on the loosest hook.
Problem: Cups Gaping or Wrinkling
Cause: Cups are too large. Solution: Go down a cup size, or try a different cup shape that better matches your breast shape.
Problem: Spillage Over Cups
Cause: Cups are too small. Solution: Go up a cup size. All breast tissue should be contained within the cup.
Problem: Straps Digging In
Cause: Band is too large, forcing straps to bear too much weight. Solution: Try a smaller band size. The band should provide most of the support.
Problem: Underwire Poking
Cause: Wrong cup size or shape. Solution: Ensure the underwire follows the natural crease of your breast. Try a larger cup or different style.
